"There are times when you choose to believe something that would normally be considered absolutely irrational. It doesn't mean that it is actually irrational, but it surely is not rational. Perhaps there is suprarationality: reason beyond the normal definitions of fact or data-based logic; something that only makes sense if you can see a bigger picture of reality. Maybe that is where faith fits in."
I love how the author of The Shack, William P Young states this. There are many thing that can be pointed to as being big problems with not only the Church but with our culture at large. Our inability to "think differently" ranks up at the top. Unfortunately for us, I have come to believe it even goes deeper. Most, haven't really been thinking on their own for so long now, they have forgotten how. They aren't even aware of it. If we can't think or imagine it, we can't believe it. Faith is hijacked and we then are left with only one thing, Unbelief.

Kent,
I can't wait. I just ordered the book on Thursday or Friday, so I don't expect it soon.
There are so many quotable profound things in this book. I hope you have it in your hands soon.
I can't pick a favorite chapter because that would be impossible but the Chapter Here Comes Da Judge is just done in such an amazing way. Judgement and forgivenss, from all angles, will never look the same after you read it.
