SOUNDING AN ALARM

I've had some thoughts brewing from the moment I made the decision to put up the first Arcade Fire video. Actually those were already there that led me to introduce the band and some of their music. The thoughts about the mess we have made I have shared in many different ways here. The most recent being the Curious posts.

I don't put Arcade Fire (or anyone else) out there and hold them up as having the answer to work out the mess. I put them out there as I do with many other bands and authors because in a sense they are serving us like watchmen on the wall, sounding an alarm that there is a fire burning. Do they leave us with the hopelessness that their is nothing we can do about it? There are many artist that do....probably most of them. But there are many that point to the hope of our glory. I have some of them listed in my music section.

I've talked to many of you that stop by here and like myself, you had found that most Contemporary Christian Music might have talk about the hope, but it was presented from such a sterile, sugary sweet, status quo perspective way that, just didn't seem to fit with real life.

Low and behold there are musicians out there that feel the same way. And they are saying it in many different ways. I have no way of knowing what the members of Arcade Fire believe about God and what we might do to turn it around? But I do appreciate that they like many other artists that are writing today and those that have gone before, sensed something was wrong and at least tried to sound the alarm.

Jesus has the defining different story that can lead us out of the mess. It seems clear to me, that from the very moment the mess began, God has been sending out prophets, poets, and psalmists to get our attention. I think he is trying to speak to us all in a personal way. Does he have your attention yet?

and then Life happened said...

The resonating rhythms of His love and grace in and through you are so wonderfully bewildering and intoxicating.
This intoxication is so truly sobering!
