IT RARELY, IF EVER HAPPENS FROM WITHIN THE SYSTEMS

"If change is to come...
it will have to come from the outside.
It will have to come from the margins...
this sort of change is a dominant theme of our tradition,
whose "central figures" have often worked their way inward from the margins.
It was the desert, not the temple, that gave us the prophets." ---

Wendell Berry

I'm glad the prophets come from the deserts. Imagine if the temple had that power as well? Humanity would have gone out of existence long ago, would have sucked itself dry through its lust for power and control.

Thank God for the deserts.
