FOR MY U2 FRIENDS

This is a VH1 Legends Of Rock Documentary from a few years ago. I love how their journey of faith is presented here. I'm guessing none of my friends that come here to this blog have seen this before? Their friendships are such a wonderful example of sacrificing for one another and also allowing each other the freedom to follow their hearts. For years it was Bono, The Edge, and Larry that had made decisions to follow Jesus and yet they always made Adam feel like one of them even though he didn't share their faith. Years later....almost 20 years after they formed Adam joined the other three in that faith. It's not mentioned here in this documentary but I read of the account in the book BONO in conversations with Michka Assayas (a book I would recomend to anyone who enjoys U2) At that time Bono said it was now Adam that was carrying them. It comes in 6 parts so total run time is a little over 40 minutes.

ENJOY

Hi Kent,
I'll probably watch this later on today, but I wanted to comment on the Bono in Conversation book. I read that book back when it came out a few years ago now. Great book. The ultimate Bono interview. But I remember being completely frustrated by Bono's spiritual freedom. I felt so shackled down by my religion. It wasn't fair! The funny thing now is that I hear other voices saying pretty much the same things Bono was(via the godjourney, bloggers and other outlets). It seems that Bono was right! Imagine that. I also feel I have u2 to credit for being "that voice" as a teenager that kept me from becoming a total pharisee. Unfortunately I drifted into a bit of u2 idolatry...but that was then.
It is admirable that they -still- are all such close friends. Most bands implode on that level so quickly.

cheryl marie, you will love this documentary. And I think you are right about the path these guys walked being a very authetic path when most of us got caught up in religion. I've learned that it is the more subtle forms of religious control and lack of freedom that are the hardest to recognise. These guys growing up in Ireland seeing Protestants and Catholics talking about a message of love grace, mercy and forgiveness all the while killing each other has a way of pulling the curtain back so those with eyes to see can see religion for what it is. These guys saw it long before I did or at least would admit it.

Their music does have a way of exposing the "pharisee within"

I didn't know alot of the stuff in this film. Very enjoyable to watch. Quite refreshing to see grace and mercy lived out between folks when the easy path would have been to move on. Thanks for the post.

I'm finally starting to reconnect to some of the blogs I enjoy after being disconnected from the internet for a few weeks thanks to the hurricane.

My broadband connection has been dropped back to dial-up speeds because I've used up my quota. I think I might wait a few days to watch this :)
