TO RECOGNIZE RENEWAL

God is with us and when moments like this happen with me it's like an invitation to let go of more of the things that just don't matter and without a doubt get in the way. I've never heard this Bruce Cockburn song before and it's not the Bruce song that I woke up this morning thinking about. Pacing The Cage was the song on my mind this morning so I went to YouTube to listen and watch. While there I clicked on Spring Song and it seemed to fit so perfectly (at least in my mind) with yesterday's post.

Since I don't feel entranced anymore by the ornaments the frenzied dance is but a distant memory....but freedom remains something that has to be actively picked up anew every moment. It's become apparent to me that if we aren't resting in Father Son and Spirit, freedom is not possible and all there is outside of that rest is the frenzied dance. It's all this world is interested in, so don't be surprised by the crowd standing around insisting that you join them in the world's dance.

SPRING SONG

When we come

When we come again

To celebrate renewal

At the heart

At the heart of us

Our eyes will touch life

Though we may be hard to find

Where we stand in time

The mirrors of the past shine

With the light of unborn days

We wander in the flames

With nothing but our names

And no-one for the blame

We love so well to focus on

When we come

When we come again

To search beside the Fool

For the heart

For the heart of us

Our eyes will touch Life

By ornaments entranced

We trace in frenzied dance

The patterns carved by chance

On the pavement of memory

Seasons turning yet again

The Mother's breast is full again

As in heaven, so with men

Is now and ever shall be

Till we come

Till we come again

To recognize renewal

At the heart

At the heart of us

Our eyes will touch life
