DAYLIGHT IS ONCE AGAIN GAINING GROUND

The hours of sunlight are lengthening once again as we march towards spring. We had our first measurable snowfall of this winter season last week and it spread winter beauty all around us. Some to the south of us got the brunt of the pain that can come with these winter storms in the form of freezing rain that had brought down just about anything that was of the wood variety....trees, power lines, and even buildings.
It's been a colder winter than we have had in many years, but today the sun is out and the winds are blowing from the south and the temps are expected to reach near the mid 50s. The snow is melting rather quickly and as it does it replenishes the much needed moisture in the ground that is a part of ushering in another season of vegetation springing forth from the earth. I so enjoy this process.

Some of the late winter blooming plants in my garden will be awakening soon, followed by all the rest of what I have planted on this space of ground myself and my family occupy. I get the sense that there are many beautiful things springing forth in the hearts and minds of my wife and my children, some of my friends and even myself....

I patiently await their arrival.

Kent,
Ahhhhh....thank you for posting these beautiful pictures of the snow (top) and it melting (bottom). Neat to "see" this transformation. It brought many memories of this dynamic when I lived in WA.

Indeed, the upper Northeast has just been pummeled this year with snow, ice and extremely cold (minus temps) weather. Keep warm until Spring.

I love it when the daylight begins to "win out," as each day's light-time becomes longer and longer.

Have a great Sunday, Kent...as well as your wife and daughters.

Blessings,
~Amy :)

Kent, I'm a few days behind after my travels, and just read this on the heels of reading your Wendell Berry post for Friday. How refreshing! Getting back to the basics of life as it was created to be... tending a garden is loving relationship with Father, Son, Spirit and others... that is real life! It's not found in governments, economies, religions, institutions, etc.

I got my shoulder fixed while I was away, and look forward to being able to actually use it in my garden this coming spring and summer, trimming, digging, etc. etc.... things that I've missed out on over the past couple of years. The ol' farm boy in me really needs those things to keep in touch with my deepest created purpose!

Bones, it always reminds me of the prophetic word of beating our swords into plowshares.

I say, why wait. Politics, economics and religion are all about fighting....I'm just not interested anymore.
