Hopefully spring will come in more like a lamb though as opposed to a lion. Some tension is exciting but too much tension as in tornadoes is just dangerous and scary. It's been a few seasons now since we have had to make our way to the basement, multiple times, when the sirens begin to scream just down the street from us in our local park warning us of the likelihood of a funnel cloud tracking towards our area.
And that is just fine by me. I would rather be able to stand outside with it happening over my head taking pictures and enjoying the wonder of it all.
Have an awe-filled day everyone.

I'm also fascinated by thunder storms. I once watched a storm "rolling" toward me. It was the most exciting thing! This wasn't a cute little rain shower, it was a, "Come on, let's get outa here!" kind of storm. I could see the dark clouds and this "curtain" of rain literally rolling toward me. My husband was actually pulling me by the hand as if we could outrun it by chance! One moment we were standing there amazed at what we were beholding--the next minute we were drenched to the bone. It was a really awesome experience! (for me anyway...my husband wasn't amused.) But I'll never forget realizing what was happening... watching the storm roll in from probably miles away...and the instant (and I do mean instant) the deluge hit! It was absolutely beautiful!
Storms like that speak to me of the absolute power of God.
Beautiful picutres, Kent!
Carolyn, the deck off the back of our home faces west. I stand out there quite often with my wife's cousin (who lives with us and loves storms also) and watch the storms move in from the west. We have had some experiences just like the one you mentioned. A few years ago we were standing out there watching a wall cloud move in while talking to our neighbor who was standing out on his deck. It was as calm as could be one minute and all at once the trees were strongly bent over with the sudden arrival of the winds from the storm. I have never seen my neighbor move so fast :) It was awesome.
Ken, it's interesting, now that I'm thinking more about this, that life is like that sometimes.
Today, I'm off work, waiting to go back to the hospital where my uncle, my mother's last living brother is dying. We were there very late last night and the doctors are all saying the same thing...
basically his body is shutting down.
This is a storm of life. While this particular storm may have been "rolling in" for awhile (my uncle's nearly 80 and has had health issues for awhile), it "hit" us this week and we are all "drenched" with our different emotions and ways of dealing with it all.
I'm at peace because my uncle has lived a good life and I know he will be with the Lord. My mom, on the other hand, knows this as well, but is dealing with being the only one of her 5 other siblings left and the loneliness that only she can explain. My sister is dealing with unresolved issues with this man. And he is my brother's hero, being the only father figure any of us had for a long time. And that's not to mention his ex and present wives and each set of children.
This is a storm of life. For me, the beauty of it is remembering the fun times we had as kids at my uncle's house almost every Sunday. The drenching is all the sadness of letting him go because the power of it can't be stopped unless God in his sovereignty, says differently.
This is a storm of life.
Carolyn, what keen insight here, and I, too, love watching storms (in the sky). I've seen a few of those storms of life come in unexpectedly, and yes, somehow, He's always there, right in the big middle of it, and standing with open arms ready to dry us off from the drenching, when it's over.
And then... sometimes there are storms of blessing, so good you actually want to dance in them. I think that's when HE'S actually doing the drenching, and we just can't get enough of His spiritual rain.
Thanks for posting these, Kent. You always have great nature pics here... and I love the way Papa speaks thru His creation.
Hey, BTW: love what you've done with the place here. Great new look!
That is a great observation Carolyn. And there is something that is wonderfully drenching for us all as we stand on the edge of eternity with others...if we have eyes to see. From the cradle we all are actually headed to the edge of eternity and that journey is full of wonderful potential for us to find Life...even in the midst of storms.
FS, I'm glad you find enjoyment through my photos that I post here and thanks for the compliment on the new look.
