UNCLUTTERED NATURAL RHYTHM

The cleaned up landscape, the overcast sky, the light rain shower along with the spring like temperatures gives this morning the feeling of everything being at least close to right. I will dwell in that lovely space/presence even though I know things aren't yet all right. The beauty of that space though leaves me in a much better state of mind, soul and body that feels more in sync with being helpful to myself...those who live close around me...and my larger world in which I must live.

TREES AND BEING AT PEACE

Wendell Berry
I go among trees and sit still.
All my stirring becomes quiet
around me like circles on water.
My tasks lie in their places
where I left them, asleep like cattle.

Then what is afraid of me comes
and lives a while in my sight.
What it fears in me leaves me,
and the fear of me leaves it.
It sings, and I hear its song.

Then what I am afraid of comes.
I live for a while in its sight.
What I fear in it leaves it,
and the fear of it leaves me.
It sings, and I hear its song.

After days of labor,
mute in my consternations,
I hear my song at last,
and I sing it. As we sing,
the day turns, the trees move.

WINTER SPRING SUMMER & FALL

ALONENESS

There is a life that can only be birthed in aloneness.
It's the birth place of true belonging.
True belonging transforms everything.
Being alive will never be quite the same.
In strangeness and wonder.

It releases a wind that shakes you free
From all the false belonging you have clung to.
And that has clung to you.
That's a belonging that came upon you without notice.
Birthed out of the fear of being alone.

Fear has not served you well.

It's just distorted a beautiful reality.
You're not alone and never have been.
